The statistics of the XPCC show that 2006 witnessed the publishing of 47.64 million copies of newspapers of 17 titles, 650 thousand copies of magazines of 16 titles. At present, the XPCC had 206 broadcasting and TV stations, one TV station in Urumqi, 12 TV stations and 5 radio transmitting stations in divisions and 188 radio transmitting stations on farms. The broadcasting net covered 92.6% and TV network covered 96.4 % of the population.
        And 285 multi-activities rooms had been completed according to the XPCC’s “People-Centered' Projects” of 300 multi-activities rooms project for basic companies. Besides 31 sets of apparatus for the project of the common share of cultural information resources had been put into use. In the XPCC, altogether there were 648 medical institutions of various kinds with 20780 medical technicians, providing 6.43 beds for per thousand people. The medical and health conditions of grass-roots had been primarily improved and the objectives of elementary health care for everyone on farms had been basically realized. The competition sports and masses sports developed in balance. The Athletes of the XPCC had won the prizes for 21 times (6 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 9 bronze medals) in the Third National Games, National Track and Field Championships for the Disabled, the National Track and Field Championships of Traditional Sports for Collage and the Sixth Traditional Ethnic Minority Sports Meets.
