During the 10th Five-Year Plan period, the XPCC built 114 new reservoirs with a total storage capacity of 3.2 billion cubic meters of water. Among them, there were 11 big-scaled reservoirs with a total water storage capacity of 1.838 billion cubic meters, 27 mid-sized reservoirs with a total water storage capacity of 1.109 billion cubic meters and 76 small-sized reservoirs with a total water storage capacity of 121.6 million cubic meters. Besides, 100.5 hundred thousand km of irrigation channels were constructed, 27.7 hundred thousand km of which were functioned with seepage control. And 18 irrigation areas of the XPCC had been listed in the national planning of the accessory constructions continued and water-saving projects for big-size irrigation areas. The programs to improve potable water facilities for people and livestock and to prevent from diseases had been made great achievements. The living condition and water supply for the broad masses of people in agricultural and pastoral areas had been much ameliorated.
